Shopping Showdown: SPS Badal students debate Online vs Offline Shopping

GIDDERBAHA, Sep 26: The Badal School of Business Studies, Sardar Parkash Singh Badal College of Management and Technology, Gidderbaha, organised an Intra-College Debate Competition on the topic “Online Shopping vs. Offline Shopping – Which One is Better?”

The event was coordinated by Ms Pooja, Assistant Professor, Commerce & Management, with the objective of providing students with a platform to express their views, exchange ideas and develop communication, analytical and critical-thinking skills.

The debate focused on a relevant aspect of contemporary consumer life. Students discussed the growing popularity of e-commerce and the convenience it offers in searching, comparing and purchasing products, while also examining the continued relevance of traditional offline shopping, which provides opportunities for personal interaction, physical examination of products and an immediate shopping experience.

Participants presented well-structured arguments and counter-arguments on various aspects of both shopping models, including convenience, pricing, product variety, quality, customer service, accessibility, shopping experience, trust and personal interaction.

The healthy exchange of views encouraged students to examine the issue from multiple perspectives. Their presentations reflected confidence, logical reasoning, awareness of changing consumer trends and effective communication skills.

The event was graced by Dr R.K. Uppal, Principal, who appreciated the efforts of the organiser and participating students. Addressing the gathering, he encouraged students to take an active part in academic and co-curricular activities, noting that such platforms help develop confidence, leadership qualities, critical thinking and overall personality.

Dr Mehar Chand was also present on the occasion and encouraged the participants.

At the conclusion of the competition, Team Pinnacle Pair secured the first position. The Smarties and Visionary Minds jointly secured the second position, while Wondering Minds bagged the third position and The Inspire Icons secured the fourth position.

The winning teams and all participants were congratulated for their enthusiastic participation and impressive performances. The Principal particularly appreciated Ms Pooja for organising the debate and creating an engaging academic environment.
