CHANDIGARH, Sep 2: Shalby Hospital, Mohali on Wednesday announced the launch of a dedicated 24×7 cardiac helpline no, 8725040400 to ensure a qualified cardiologist is available round-the-clock to evaluate and guide patients through any cardiac emergency.
The initiative ahead of World Heart Day, also includes the rollout of a Rs 999 preventive package for early detection and timely intervention.
Dr Arghadip Bose, Senior Interventional Cardiologist said that the reducing pre-hospital delay, which is the single biggest modifiable factor in heart-attack survival.
The round the clock helpline will provide immediate triage by a cardiologist who can distinguish cardiac from non-cardiac chest pain while guiding on first aid steps, coordinating ambulance dispatch and pre-alerting the cath lab, cutting door-to-balloon time, he informed.
Dr Honey Sharma , Senior Interventional Cardiologist said,”in real-world practice, however, many patients still die before reaching the hospital because symptoms are ignored or transport is delayed. A 24×7 cardiologist-led helpline ensures that the first medical contact is expert, not accidental.”
Dr HS Bedi , Director – CTVS said that we are going to train students of four universities and their security staff by imparting BLS training to them to handle cardiac emergencies.
