CHANDIGARH, Aug 24 (Agencies): Three arms and drug trafficking networks have been dismantled in Amritsar with the arrest of five persons and recovery of 6.311 kg heroin along with nine pistols, a top Punjab Police officer said on Monday.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused were allegedly in contact with foreign-based handlers, receiving illegal arms and drug consignments and supplying them as directed, Director General of Police Gauarv Yadav said in a post on X.
Three FIRs have been registered in this matter.
Further investigation is underway to establish the complete forward and backward linkages, identify other persons involved, and dismantle the wider illegal arms and drug trafficking networks, the DGP said.
