KARGIL, Jun 27: Youm-e-Ashura was observed with profound religious devotion and solemnity at Maktab-e-Imam Sahib, Lankerchey, Kargil, commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (A.S.), the beloved grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and his loyal companions who laid down their lives in the historic Battle of Karbala.
Ashura, observed on the 10th day of the Islamic month of Muharram, marks a day of mourning and remembrance for the sacrifices made at Karbala in 680 CE. It symbolizes the eternal struggle against injustice, oppression, and tyranny, while inspiring generations to uphold truth, justice, and righteousness.
A traditional Azadari procession was taken out by thousands of mourners carrying the Alam-e-Hussain, while reciting nauha and elegies and performing matam (chest-beating) to express their grief and unwavering devotion to the cause of Imam Hussain (A.S.).
At Hussaini Chowk, renowned religious scholar Sheikh Sadiq Shahidee addressed the mourners and emphasized the timeless relevance of Imam Hussain’s (A.S.) sacrifice.
He said that Imam Hussain (A.S.) stood firmly against tyranny and oppression, upholding the principles of truth, justice, and human dignity despite overwhelming odds.
Addressing at Maktab-e-Imam Sahib, Lankerchey, Akhoon Mohammad Hussain highlighted the teachings and moral values of Imam Hussain (A.S.).
He stated that Ashura serves as a powerful reminder of the enduring struggle against oppression and the importance of standing steadfast with righteousness and justice.
pecial prayers were offered for peace, unity, prosperity, and communal harmony in the region and across the world.
The observance concluded with the recitation of Ziyarat-e-Ashura and Dua-e-Khair, with devotees praying for the well-being of humanity and reaffirming the universal message of sacrifice, faith, and justice exemplified by Imam Hussain (A.S.).
