KARGIL, Jun 18: The Block Medical Officer Sankoo holds successfully organized a medical camp at Itchoo, one of the remotest villages in Kargil, UT Ladakh, with the objective of providing essential healthcare services to the local population.
During the camp, a large number of patients were examined and treated by a team of healthcare professionals, including a Consultant Pediatrician and Medical Officers from PHC Taiket and CHC Sankoo
The medical team also conducted health education and awareness sessions, emphasizing disease prevention, personal hygiene, nutrition, and the adoption of healthy lifestyles among local residents and school-going children.
The camp was warmly welcomed by the local community and played a significant role in improving access to quality healthcare services in the area.
The residents of Itchoo expressed their appreciation for the initiative, which brought specialized medical care closer to their doorstep.
The medical team from CHC Sankoo, led by Dr. Iftikhar Ali, Consultant Pediatrician, Dr. Abdur Raufi, Medical Officer, and Dr. Murtaza Ali, Medical Officer, PHC Taiket, along with supporting medical staff, trekked through difficult terrain for more than two to three hours from Shargandi to reach Itchoo.
The challenging journey was undertaken to provide much-needed healthcare services to the residents of Itchoo, situated at an altitude of approximately 12,760 feet above sea level, making it one of the most remote and inaccessible villages in the region.
The initiative reflects the commitment of the Health Department Kargil Union Territory of Ladakh to ensuring equitable healthcare access for people living in far-flung and underserved areas of Kargil district.
