KARGIL, Jul 17: In a commendable initiative to improve healthcare accessibility in remote areas, the Block Medical Officer (BMO), Sankoo, organized a Medical Health Camp at Labar Umba under the directions of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Sankoo, for the benefit of the Gujjar and Bakarwal communities, as well as the local population working and residing in the area.
A team of specialist doctors and healthcare professionals from Community Health Centre (CHC) Sankoo provided comprehensive medical services during the camp.
The medical team included Dr. Rubiya Banoo (Consultant Gynecologist), Dr. Iftikhar Ali (Consultant Paediatrician), and Dr. Sheikh Villayat Ali (Medical Officer).
The doctors offered medical consultations, treatment, and expert health advice to the beneficiaries. Various laboratory investigations were also carried out to support accurate diagnosis and treatment.
More than 60 patients availed themselves of the healthcare services during the camp, receiving consultations in Gynaecology, Paediatrics, and General Medicine.
Free medicines and diagnostic services were provided to all beneficiaries.
The medical team also conducted health education and counselling sessions, creating awareness about disease prevention, personal hygiene, nutrition, maternal and child health, and the importance of adopting healthy lifestyles.
The camp aimed to strengthen healthcare outreach in this remote region and ensure that quality medical services reached the Gujjar and Bakarwal communities, along with the local population residing in the area.
