Asks officials, Pujaris to maintain sanctity of Temples, facilitate devotees visiting DT temples
SRINAGAR, May 11: Vikramaditya Singh, former MLC and Trustee, J&K Dharmarth Trust, today chaired a meeting of senior officials and Pujaris of all temples of the Kashmir region under the aegis of the J&K Dharmarth Trust.
The meeting was convened in view of the onset of the summer season and the significant surge in the number of tourists and devotees arriving in Kashmir from across the country.
Addressing the meeting, Vikramaditya Singh emphasised that with the resumption of large-scale tourist footfall in the Valley, it is imperative that all temples under the Trust are managed with the highest standards of sanctity, discipline, and devotee care.
He stressed that the sanctum sanctorum of each temple must be maintained with utmost reverence and that no compromise shall be made on the religious and spiritual integrity of these sacred spaces.
The Trustee laid special emphasis on the need to educate and orient visiting devotees about the historical and religious significance of the temples built by the great Maharajas of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that these temples are not merely places of worship but are living monuments of the rich cultural and civilisational heritage of the region, and every effort must be made to acquaint pilgrims with their glorious legacy.
Vikramaditya Singh directed the Pujaris and temple functionaries to strictly adhere to the prescribed rituals of Pooja and Paath and to ensure proper conduct and decorum within temple premises at all times.
He underlined that maintaining discipline and ensuring a serene and spiritually fulfilling atmosphere within the temples are the shared responsibilities of all temple staff.
Vikramaditya Singh also informed that the Trust is actively considering the introduction of a standardised dress code for Pujaris across all temples of the Jammu and Kashmir region.
He further appealed to the Divisional Administration and Security Forces to ensure smooth and safe passage of pilgrims and yatris to all temples falling under the ambit of the Trust.
He said that the cooperation of civil and security agencies is essential in ensuring that devotees have a hassle-free and memorable experience during their visit to the sacred shrines and temples of Kashmir.
He reiterated that the J&K Dharmarth Trust, under the patronage of its Chairman Trustee Dr. Karan Singh, remains steadfast in its commitment to preserving the sanctity, heritage, and religious traditions associated with its ancient temples across Jammu & Kashmir.
