SRINAGAR, Sep 4 (Agencies): One terrorist was killed and an AK rifle along with other war-like stores were recovered during an ongoing joint operation in the Ashdar Gali area of Budgam, Army said on Friday.
The operation was launched by the Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF following specific intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.
The Army’s Chinar Corps said in a post on X that a joint search operation was launched in the general area of Ashdar Gali under Operation ASHDAR.
According to the Army, troops observed suspicious movement during the operation and challenged the suspected terrorists, who responded by opening fire.
The security forces retaliated, resulting in an exchange of gunfire in which one terrorist was killed, the Army said.
“During the exchange of gunfire, one terrorist was neutralised and one AK rifle along with other war-like stores were recovered,” the Chinar Corps said.
The Army said the search operation remains underway in the area.
