Environmentalist Dr. Touseef Bhat named Green Ambassador for movement
SRINAGAR, May 29: The Mohallah Committee Buchwara Dalgate today kicked off a comprehensive cleanliness and awareness drive, commencing from Nehru Park to Dalgate, with a strong focus on educating the public—especially the youth—about environmental hygiene and civic responsibility.
The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents, committee members, and young volunteers. The drive not only aimed to physically clean the area but also to spread a powerful message about the link between a clean environment and a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Touseef Bhat, a noted Environmentalist and a proud resident of the same area, was officially designated as the Brand Ambassador for the initiative. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Bhat emphasized the urgent need for community-led action to preserve the beauty of Dalgate and its surroundings. “A clean environment is the first step toward a disciplined and addiction-free life. I urge our youth to lead this change,” he said.
The President of the Mohallah Committee Buchwara Dalgate appealed to the young generation to actively participate in these regular activities, stating that staying engaged in constructive social work would help keep them away from the menace of drug de-addiction. He further requested that this model initiative be replicated across all of Kashmir, urging other committees and local bodies to adopt similar drives for a cleaner, healthier, and drug-free society.
The committee reiterated its commitment to sustaining the drive on a regular basis and called upon government agencies and civil society to extend their support.
