SRINAGAR, Jul 3: A high-level delegation led by Sunil Dimple met Commissioner/Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary (IAS), at the Civil Secretariat and discussed various issues concerning unemployment and the welfare of youth in Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting was attended by Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, Nusrat Gull, along with senior officers of the department.

During the meeting, Dimple urged the Commissioner/Secretary to immediately issue appointment letters to the 243 selected sportspersons and ensure that they are allowed to join their respective posts without further delay.

He also demanded the regularization of Rehbar-e-Khel (REK) teachers and National Youth Corps (NYC) volunteers who, according to him, have completed seven years of service. Dimple further highlighted the plight of more than 10,000 professionally qualified physical education graduates, including B.P.Ed. and M.P.Ed. degree holders, who are still awaiting employment opportunities.

Dimple also sought an increase in the monthly honorarium of National Youth Corps volunteers from ₹2,500 to ₹25,000 and demanded permanent employment for NYC volunteers and trained physical education teachers. He further called for the implementation of the Minimum Wages Act for daily wagers and daily-rated workers and sought the provision of a stipend for trained physical education youth.
