KULGAM, Aug 8: In an inspiring story of resilience and determination, 23-year-old Shakoor Bashir Ganie, son of Bashir Ahmad Ganie and resident of Gadihama, Kulgam, has been selected for the Indian Para Cricket League (IPCL) 2026, fetching a bid of Rs 2.75 lakh.

Despite undergoing five surgeries on his foot, Shakoor continued to pursue his passion for cricket and refused to allow physical challenges to come in the way of his sporting ambitions.

Speaking about his journey, Shakoor said, “The journey has not been easy. I have undergone five surgeries on my foot, but every setback made me more determined to return to the game. I never allowed my difficulties to take away my passion for cricket.”

He said the support of his family and well-wishers played an important role in helping him continue his journey.

 “My message to every young person facing challenges is to keep your enthusiasm high, believe in yourself and never give up. Difficulties can slow you down, but they should never stop you from chasing your dream,” Shakoor said.

His selection in the IPCL and the Rs 2.75 lakh bid have brought pride to his family and the local sporting community, while his journey stands as an inspiring example of courage, perseverance and determination.
