BUDGAM, Sep 30: The Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch (BTSM) organised an important workers’ meeting at Chana Pora, Beerwah, in Budgam district, bringing together office bearers, workers and local supporters to discuss organisational activities, public outreach and upcoming programmes.
The meeting was chaired by Mushtaq Ahmad Khanday, State Secretary for Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch.
During the meeting, several political workers associated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), National Conference (NC) and Congress joined the Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch. The new entrants were welcomed by the senior office bearers and workers present on the occasion.
The meeting was attended by Bilal Ahmad, District Youth President, Budgam; Farooq Ahmad Lone, Block Secretary; Mohmad Yousuf Baba, Halqa President, Waragam; Mohmad Ramzan Sheikh, Halqa President, Chana Pora; Ab Salam Mir, District Vice President, Budgam; Mushtaq Ahmad, District General Secretary, Srinagar; and Nusrat Bilal, District General Secretary, Mahila Morcha, Budgam, besides several other local leaders and supporters.
The participants discussed strengthening the organisation at the grassroots level and expanding awareness about the objectives and programmes of BTSM. The organisation has publicly described its mission in terms of support for the Tibetan cause, the liberation of Kailash Mansarovar and India’s national security. Its annual Tawang Tirth Yatra is also one of its major programmes, including visits to Tawang Monastery and the India-Tibet border area at Bumla.
Dr. Vivek Sharma, President of Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch for the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, emphasised the importance of taking the organisation’s message to the people and involving youth and local communities in its programmes.
Dr. Sharma said that the Tawang Yatra has an important place in the organisation’s activities as it provides an opportunity for people to connect with India’s Himalayan frontier, understand the historical and cultural links between Bharat and Tibet, and create greater public awareness about the issues concerning Tibet, Kailash Mansarovar and India’s security. He said the organisation would continue working through awareness programmes, public outreach and cultural initiatives to strengthen people-to-people understanding.
He appealed to workers, youth, and civil society members to participate in the upcoming yatra and other awareness programmes. He said that such initiatives can help strengthen cultural bonds and increase public understanding of the importance of the Himalayan region.
The 15th Tawang Tirth Yatra, scheduled from 19 to 25 November 2026, will be an important upcoming programme of BTSM. The organisation has described the Tawang Tirth Yatra as one of its most significant initiatives since its launch in 2012.
He further called upon workers to maintain discipline, dedication and unity while expanding BTSM’s activities at the grassroots level and ensuring greater participation in its forthcoming programmes.
The meeting concluded with the participants reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the organisation and carrying forward its awareness and outreach activities in Budgam and other parts of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
