KULGAM, Sep 21: The batching plant operated by BS Builders at Brazloo in Kulgam has come under scrutiny amid allegations that it is being operated without valid mandatory consent and that material is being supplied to sites beyond the NH-444 Kulgam Bypass project.
District Pollution Officer Kulgam, Bashir Ahmad, confirmed that the batching plant is running illegally and said that several notices have already been issued to the unit.
Meanwhile, District Mineral Officer (DMO) Kulgam, Faisal Wani, said he would look into the matter regarding the alleged supply of material to locations beyond the NH-444 project and verify under what provisions such supplies are being made.
Director Pollution Control Committee said that if the unit is found operating illegally, further notices would be issued and, in case of continued non-compliance, the plant would be closed.
The development assumes significance as the same BS Builders’ stone crusher at Chekpora-Bemdoora, Kulgam, has also come under regulatory scrutiny, with authorities earlier confirming that it was operating without a valid consent.
The alleged continued operation of the batching plant and supply of material beyond the designated project have raised questions over regulatory compliance and enforcement of rules.
