GHAGWAL, Jul 31: Government Degree College (GDC) Ghagwal organized a Youth Parliament and Mock Legislative Assembly Session to promote constitutional values, democratic participation, and awareness about the functioning of India’s parliamentary system among students. The programme was conducted under the patronage of the Principal of the college, Dr. Mohd. Zubair.
The session provided students with an opportunity to understand the legislative process by assuming the roles of legislators and participating in discussions and debates on issues of public importance. Through this experiential learning activity, students gained valuable insights into parliamentary procedures, law-making, and the significance of informed and responsible citizenship in a democratic society.
As part of the programme, Monika Sharma delivered a lecture on the Judiciary and Constitutional Remedies, highlighting the role of the judiciary as the guardian of the Constitution, the importance of fundamental rights, and the constitutional remedies available to citizens under Article 32 and Article 226 for the protection of their rights. The lecture encouraged students to appreciate the rule of law and the vital role of constitutional institutions in safeguarding democracy.
The programme was organized by Monika Sharma with the support of Dr. Shivani Sharma and Dr. Vani Awasthi. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who actively engaged in the mock legislative proceedings and demonstrated a keen understanding of democratic values and constitutional principles.
