JAMMU, Aug 29: The Inter-Zonal District Level Competitions in Basketball for U-14, U-17 and U-19 girls and Football for U-17 boys continued with enthusiasm at MA Stadium, Jammu, and KhelGaon Nagrota, respectively.
The competitions are being organised under the patronage of Director General, Youth Services and Sports, J&K, Smt. Anuradha Gupta (JKAS), under the guidance of Joint Director Youth Services and Sports Jammu, Inderjeet Singh (JKAS), and overall supervision of DYSSO Jammu Sukhdev Raj Sharma.
The events are providing young sportspersons an opportunity to showcase their skills, compete at the district level and develop team spirit and sportsmanship.
In Basketball U-14 girls, Zone Satwari defeated Zone Akhnoor 11-2 in the first semi-final, while Zone Gandhi Nagar beat Zone Bhalwal 15-3 in the second semi-final. In the final, Zone Satwari emerged victorious over Zone Gandhi Nagar 24-2.
Meanwhile, exciting action was witnessed in the Football U-17 boys category at KhelGaon Nagrota. Zone Marh registered a commanding 6-0 victory over Zone Bhalwal. Mankarn scored three goals, while Rajhvarshvardhan netted two and Rohansa Choudhary one.
In another encounter, Zone Satwari defeated Zone Gandhi Nagar 1-0, with Rehbar Malik scoring the decisive goal. Zone Akhnoor also produced an impressive performance, defeating Zone Arnia 7-0. Arjun scored three goals, Kapisa two, while Hari Om and Manik contributed one each.
In the final match reported, Zone Miran Sahib defeated Zone Dansal 1-0, with Sohan scoring the lone goal.
DYSSO Jammu Sukhdev Raj Sharma appreciated the participants and urged them to compete with dedication, discipline and true sporting spirit.
The competitions are being conducted by departmental officials and technical experts, including Ajay Kumar, Rohit Gupta, Taranpal Singh, Varinder Singh, Rakesh Singh, Naveen Singh, Jyoti Sharma, Vajinder Pal Kour, Maheep Singh, Rajesh Bandral, Vaneet Pangotra, Amit Kalsi, Mousmi Verma, Dheeraj Pal, Satika Sharma, Manjeet Kour, Shaveta, Gudeep Singh and others.
