The programme focused on creating awareness among students and the local community about conserving natural water resources, particularly the bowli near the temple. The awareness campaign also highlighted the importance of cleanliness, rainwater harvesting, plantation, environmental protection and prevention of water pollution. The initiative was aimed at making Independence Day celebrations more meaningful by promoting sustainable environmental practices.
NCC cadets, NSS volunteers and college students actively participated in the programme and sensitised the local population about the need to keep natural water sources clean, safe and free from pollution. A meaningful Nukkad Natak was presented by students, NCC cadets and NSS volunteers, conveying messages on water conservation, environmental protection, rainwater harvesting and preservation of natural resources.
Plantation was also carried out at the site. The participants highlighted the important role of trees in conserving water, preventing soil erosion, maintaining ecological balance and protecting biodiversity. Students were encouraged to act as environmental ambassadors and spread awareness about sustainable practices among their families and communities.
At the conclusion of the programme, all participants took the Water Conservation Pledge, committing themselves to preventing water wastage, protecting natural water sources, promoting rainwater harvesting and adopting sustainable practices.
The programme reinforced the message that every drop of water is precious and that conserving water and protecting the environment is a collective responsibility. The organisers emphasised that sustained community participation, plantation and responsible use of natural resources are essential for securing a healthy and sustainable environment for present and future generations.
