UDHAMPUR, Aug 23: Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) District Udhampur President Vishal Singh Thakur launched a sharp attack on the Panthers Party during a press conference, calling it the “Shagda Party.” He said he coined this name because the party’s political “greenery has dried up” and that its leaders are once again appearing before the public in a new form as Panchayat elections approach, allegedly to mislead the people.
Vishal Singh Thakur said that for nearly two years after the 2024 Assembly elections, Panthers Party leaders had completely disappeared from Udhampur district, even shutting down their office. However, as soon as reports about the upcoming Panchayat elections started appearing in newspapers, they suddenly remembered to reopen their office and return among the people. He said that the public understands such election-time politics very well.
He further said that heavy rainfall caused a landslide in Thaladh village near Udhampur, severely damaging almost the entire village and tragically claiming one person’s life. Thakur said that the people of the village had given overwhelming support to the Panthers Party in the previous elections, yet during this difficult time, none of its leaders reached the village or even inquired about the affected families.
He said, “When Thaladh and dozens of other villages were suffering, the people of the ‘Shagda Party’ were busy with the Nagrota election. Even after a year, not a single leader reached out to inquire about the affected people. The entire district suffered significant losses, but these seasonal politicians were nowhere to be seen. Now, with the news of Panchayat elections, they have once again come forward to mislead the public.”
The BJYM District President appealed to the people to remain cautious of such “political chameleons” who appear before the public only during election season and disappear once the elections are over.
