Service to humanity is society’s greatest virtue: Seth
PARMANDAL, Jun 15: In a remarkable display of devotion, selfless service, and social harmony, the Vishal Khatri Sabha, under the leadership of its President Devender Seth, today organized a grand Bhandara (community feast) at the sacred Utterveni, Parmandal, to mark the auspicious occasion of Somavati Amavasya.
Continuing a cherished tradition that the Sabha observes on every Amavasya, the event drew a large number of devotees, pilgrims, saints, social workers, and local residents who gathered to seek blessings and participate in the noble act of community service. The atmosphere at the holy shrine was filled with spiritual fervour, devotion, and a deep sense of collective responsibility towards society.
The Bhandara commenced after special prayers and religious rituals, with volunteers enthusiastically serving meals to devotees irrespective of caste, creed, social status, or background. The event stood as a living example of the timeless Indian ethos of “Seva Parmo Dharma”—service to humanity is the highest duty.
Speaking on the occasion, Vishal Khatri Sabha President Devender Seth emphasized that Somavati Amavasya holds immense spiritual significance and offers an opportunity for individuals to engage in acts of charity, self-reflection, and social service. He said that while religious observances strengthen faith, it is the spirit of sharing and caring for fellow human beings that gives true meaning to such occasions.
“Every Amavasya reminds us that even in moments of darkness, the light of compassion, service, and humanity can illuminate countless lives. Through this Bhandara, we seek to spread the message of unity, brotherhood, and selfless service. Feeding the hungry and serving devotees is not merely a ritual; it is a sacred responsibility that brings society together and reinforces our cultural values,” Seth said.
He further observed that in an era marked by increasing materialism and social divisions, community initiatives such as Bhandaras play a vital role in fostering social cohesion and strengthening bonds among people. He urged the younger generation to actively participate in such activities and uphold the rich traditions of service and philanthropy inherited from their ancestors.
Devotees attending the event lauded the consistent efforts of Vishal Khatri Sabha in maintaining this noble tradition. Many described the monthly Bhandara as a source of inspiration that not only nourishes the body but also enriches the soul by promoting the values of generosity, humility, and compassion.
Prominent members of the Sabha highlighted that the organization remains committed to serving society through religious, social, and humanitarian initiatives. They stressed that true progress can be achieved only when communities work collectively for the welfare of the underprivileged and the preservation of cultural and spiritual heritage.
The event concluded with prayers for peace, prosperity, and the well-being of humanity. As devotees departed after partaking in the community feast, the message resonated strongly that acts of selfless service remain one of the most powerful forces for social transformation. The grand Bhandara at Utterveni once again demonstrated that faith, when combined with compassion and service, becomes a guiding force capable of inspiring individuals and communities alike to build a more harmonious, caring, and spiritually enriched society.
