JAMMU, Oct 23: Senior BJP leader and former Sarpanch Adv Devraj Sharma on Friday called upon people to uphold unity, strengthen social harmony and remain vigilant against divisive forces allegedly working to disturb peace, stability and progress in the country. He said national unity is India’s greatest strength and collective responsibility, warning that those attempting to create divisions through their nefarious designs must not be allowed to undermine the country’s development journey.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to unite society against divisive forces, promote self-reliance and inspire citizens to contribute towards the vision of a Developed India by 2047, Sharma said the message carried immense significance for the country’s future.He said India’s strength lies in its diversity, cultural heritage and the spirit of mutual respect among people belonging to different communities and backgrounds. Attempts to spread hatred, create mistrust or provoke social tensions must be countered through awareness, responsible citizenship and a firm commitment to national interest.
“Unity is our strength, and peace is the foundation of progress. We must remain alert to the designs of those who seek to divide society and create an atmosphere of mistrust for their own vested interests. The people of India must stand together, reject divisive agendas and ensure that no force is allowed to weaken our social fabric or obstruct the nation’s development,” Sharma said.
He emphasised that the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 could be achieved only when every citizen contributes to nation-building with dedication, discipline and a sense of responsibility. According to him, self-reliance is not merely an economic objective but a broader national commitment involving local entrepreneurship, skill development, innovation, quality education and the empowerment of youth.
Sharma said people must support initiatives that generate employment, strengthen local industries, encourage domestic production and create opportunities for future generations. He also urged citizens to avoid rumours and inflammatory narratives that could disturb communal harmony, stressing the importance of verifying information and maintaining responsible public discourse.
Highlighting the importance of peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir, Sharma said the Union Territory’s long-term prosperity depends on social harmony, development and the active participation of people in nation-building. He said the youth must be encouraged to pursue education, entrepreneurship, sports and constructive activities rather than fall prey to elements seeking to exploit their aspirations.
He further said that the country’s progress requires collective efforts beyond political, regional and social differences. Every citizen, he added, has a role to play in protecting national unity, strengthening democratic values and creating an atmosphere conducive to development.Sharma appealed to people to rise above narrow considerations, preserve the spirit of brotherhood and work together to realise Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a prosperous, self-reliant and developed India by 2047.
