Two-week student induction programme for B.Tech Batch-2026 concludes at GCET Jammu

JAMMU, Aug 28: The two-week Student Induction Programme for the newly admitted B.Tech/B.Arch Batch-2026 students at the Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET), Jammu, concluded successfully today.

Organized under the patronage of Prof. Sameru Sharma, Principal, GCET Jammu, the programme provided the newly admitted students with a comprehensive orientation to the academic, professional social and co-curricular dimensions of higher education.

Designed to facilitate a smooth transition into college life, the induction programme featured a diverse range of expert sessions, awareness programmes, interactive activities and co-curricular engagements. The sessions focused on academic orientation, human values and responsibilities, mental well-being, skill development, digital literacy, social responsibility, entrepreneurship, environmental consciousness and future career opportunities.

The valedictory function was graced by Prof. Subhash Dubey in the presence of faculty members, staff and B.Tech/B.Arch students, marking the conclusion of the two-week Student Induction Programme.

On the occasion, students who excelled in various competitions and activities organized during the programme were felicitated and presented certificates in recognition of their enthusiastic participation and achievements.

The programme benefited from the valuable contributions of distinguished resource persons, including Prof. Parveen Kumar Lehana, Er. Kushagra Anand, Reetu Thakur, Er. Bhaskar Suri, Dr. Mini Patiyal, Er. Gaurav, Dr. Sarabjeet Singh, Dr. D. N. Sharma, Dr. Rajiv Bali, Er. Sanjeev Gupta, Dr. Raman Gupta and Er. Niraj Dubey, along with personnel from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), 2nd Battalion, Jammu and Kashmir (UT).

The expert sessions covered a broad spectrum of contemporary and relevant themes, including Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Interdisciplinary Engineering and Innovation, Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Human Values and Responsibilities, Heritage of Jammu, IBM SkillsBuild and Digital & Professional Skill Development,  Cyber Security Awareness, PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana and Renewable Energy, Academic Awareness, Entrepreneurship, Social Responsibility, Mental Health and Substance Abuse Awareness and Disaster Management, Preparedness and Response.

To encourage creativity, teamwork and holistic development, students actively participated in a variety of co-curricular and sports activities. As part of the induction programme, a plantation drive was also organized to promote environmental awareness and inculcate a sense of responsibility towards nature among the students.

The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates among the winners and participants of various competitions and activities. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Deepika Sharma.
