Swami Ram Swarup explains Vedic perspective on creation and divine knowledge at Ved Mandir Yajna

JAMMU /YOL, Jun 14: On the 64th day of the ongoing 78-day Yajna dedicated to all four Vedas at Ved Mandir, Yol, Swami Ram Swarup Ji, Yogacharya, delivered a discourse explaining the profound meaning of Atharvaveda Mantra 18/1/7.Elaborating on the mantra, Swami Ji said that it raises a fundamental question: Who knows about the very first day of creation? Which person witnessed that first day, and who can truly speak about it? The answer, he explained, is clear—no human being has seen the first day of creation, nor can anyone provide a direct account of it.

Referring to Rigveda Mantras 10/129/1-7 and Sankhya Shastra Sutra 1/26, along with Yajurveda Mantras 31/3 and 31/4, he explained that the creation of the universe takes place only when the Almighty exerts even a minute portion of His divine power upon Prakriti (primordial matter). He noted that this is a vast and profound subject that cannot be fully explained in a brief discourse.

Swami Ji further stated that the processes of creation, sustenance, dissolution, and re-creation of the Earth have continued since time immemorial and are eternal in nature. According to the Vedas, when a new creation comes into existence, the first men and women are without knowledge and are born in young age. At that stage, there are no teachers, gurus, or acharyas present to impart knowledge, as all beings from the previous cycle of creation merge into the cosmic dissolution (Pralaya).

Citing Rigveda Mantras 10/181/1 and 10/181/2, he explained that through the power of God, the knowledge of the four Vedas emanated from the Almighty and was revealed successively in the hearts of the four ancient Rishis—Agni, Vayu, Aditya, and Angira. Thus, God Himself became their first Guru. Thereafter, Brahma received this knowledge from the four Rishis and established the Guru-Shishya (teacher-disciple) tradition, through which Vedic wisdom was disseminated among humanity.

Swami Ram Swarup Ji also highlighted that the Atharvaveda describes God as supremely glorious, omnipotent, formless, and endowed with infinite divine attributes. Therefore, according to the Vedas, human beings should worship, praise, and meditate upon this one formless Creator of the universe in order to attain peace, happiness, and inner strength.

He emphasized that the original Guru tradition established by God is eternal, permanent, and indestructible. Quoting Rigveda Mantra 10/125/4, he cautioned that if people abandon this divine tradition and follow man-made systems contrary to Vedic teachings, they may lose their peace, happiness, and prosperity, regardless of whether they are wealthy or poor, and ultimately face suffering in life.
