First Foundation Day of Brigadier Rajinder Singh MVC Boys’ Hostel celebrated
JAMMU, Aug 19: The first Foundation Day of Brigadier Rajinder Singh MVC Boys’ Hostel at Central University of Jammu was celebrated with great enthusiasm and grandeur. Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Jammu, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, stated in his address that students are the primary source of strength for any educational institution. The holistic development of an educational institution is possible only through the overall development of its students. Therefore, as Vice-Chancellor, he has always remained committed to ensuring that students have access to all necessary facilities and resources.
He stated that, in this direction, all necessary facilities and arrangements have been made available for the students residing in Brigadier Rajinder Singh MVC Boys’ Hostel. He appreciated the hostel staff for providing their services with utmost dedication and commitment and congratulated them for their sincere efforts. Prof. Jain encouraged the students to make the best use of the facilities available to them and work tirelessly towards achieving their respective goals.
He observed that the present global situation is not very favourable. He cautioned that companies in Western countries, through the internet, are making various kinds of anti-social and unproductive content as well as online games available, which can mislead and distract the younger generation. He urged students to understand the intentions behind such activities and demonstrate wisdom and discretion in their choices. The Vice-Chancellor also appealed to all students to preserve the spirit of Indianness in their thoughts, words and actions.
Prof. Yashwant Singh, Registrar, Central University of Jammu, in his address, stated that the University is fortunate to have the visionary leadership of Prof. Sanjeev Jain as its Vice-Chancellor. He said that the University’s all-round development has been made possible through the Vice-Chancellor’s tireless efforts. He highlighted that Prof. Jain’s vision has always been student-centric and student-friendly. As a result of his student-oriented approach, the 500-bed Brigadier Rajinder Singh MVC Boys’ Hostel has, within the past year, been equipped with all necessary facilities. He urged the students to prepare themselves for future challenges in view of the rapid technological advancements taking place across the world.
Prof. Ritu Bakshi, Dean Students’ Welfare, said that every student needs to identify the creative potential hidden within them. She encouraged students to become members of various university clubs and make sincere efforts to develop and enhance their creativity.
Prof. Rakesh Kumar Jha, Chief Warden of the University Hostels, advised students to maintain hostel discipline and pursue their studies with dedication and sincerity. He also appealed to the students to actively participate in the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (Drug-Free India Campaign) and contribute towards the progress of the University and society.
At the beginning of the programme, Prof. Bharat Bhushan, Warden of the hostel, welcomed the guests and highlighted the history and development of the hostel. On the occasion, Dr. Rajan Badyal, Public Relations Officer of the University, briefed the students about the University’s social media platforms. He encouraged them to share quality articles and content related to the University’s activities and achievements on social media platforms and thereby contribute to enhancing the University’s reputation.
At the conclusion of the programme, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain felicitated the three Joint Wardens—Dr. Shashikant Mishra, Jaswinder Pal Singh and Pravesh Pal—as well as office officials Pawan Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, Updesh Kumar and Varun, by presenting them with mementoes in recognition of their services. In addition, all Deans of Schools, Heads of Departments and faculty members present on the occasion were also felicitated.
Students, who participated in various cultural programmes, including Mangal Pandey, Atif Khan, Avnish, Adish, Buddhisagar, Amir Bashir Sheikh, Vivek and Nitish, were also honoured for their participation. The programme was conducted by student Nitish, while Joint Warden Pravesh Pal delivered the vote of thanks.
The programme commenced with the Rashtrageet (National Song) and concluded with the National Anthem.
