RAMBAN, Jun 6: Students of Government Degree College Ramban came together today to create a “Vibrant Wall Painting” advocating for a drug-free Jammu Kashmir as part of “100 Days Campaign on Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhyan”. The event was organised under the overall supervision of the Principal, Prof. Romesh Kumar Atri. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and encourage youth to adopt healthy, drug-free lifestyles.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal of Government Degree College Ramban, Prof. Romesh Kumar Atri said, “Youth are the strongest advocates for change This student-led initiative reflects our commitment to social responsibility and praised the students for using their creativity to spread awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. The initiative focused on educating youth, strengthening community outreach and promoting de-addiction services. The college has been conducting regular awareness programs, seminars, and outreach activities as part of the ongoing campaign.
The creative drive saw students (namely Samreena Kuser, Kajal Devi and Sania Shabir of Semester – II) painting impactful messages and visuals on the campus walls, highlighting themes of health, awareness, and community responsibility. Slogans like “Nasha Chhoddo, Zindagi Jodo” and “Together for a Nasha Mukt J&K” formed the centrepiece of the artwork. Students expressed that the activity not only enhanced their sense of community but also reinforced the importance of making informed choices. The wall painting will remain on display as a permanent reminder of the college’s stand against the drug abuse.
The programmed was effectively coordinated by Prof. Ram Parkash (Convenor, NCORD) and was supported by Prof. Neetu Sharma, Dr. Vishal Baloria and Dr. Anuj Gupta. The painted wall will serve as a lasting reminder of the institution’s commitment to the campaign and will be used as a backdrop for future awareness activities.
