JAMMU, Aug 1: Addressing a press conference held here today, the President of Shree Sanatan Dharma Sabha Jammu & Kashmir, Parshotam Dadhichi, announced that 5th August will be observed as “Ektaamta Diwas” (Day of Unity and Integration) across Jammu and Kashmir. Religious, cultural and patriotic programmes will be organized in temples and other religious places throughout the Union Territory.
Parshotam Dadhichi stated that 5th August holds great significance in India’s history. On this day in 2019, the Central Government abrogated Articles 370 and 35-A, thereby taking a historic step towards further integrating Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of the country. In addition, on August 5, 2020, the foundation stone for the construction of the grand Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya was laid.
He said that, in remembrance of these two historic occasions, Shree Sanatan Dharma Sabha Jammu & Kashmir will observe “Ektaamta Diwas”, during which tributes will be paid to the brave souls who sacrificed their lives for the complete integration of Jammu and Kashmir with India, to soldiers martyred in the fight against terrorism, and to the armed forces personnel who made the supreme sacrifice while defending the nation’s borders.
Parshotam Dadhichi further said that people who lost their lives due to the atrocities allegedly committed by Pakistan in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK) should also be remembered and paid tribute. He added that the struggles and sacrifices of the residents of POJK can never be forgotten.
He further said that, on the occasion of “Ektaamta Diwas”, people should reaffirm their commitment to India’s unity, integrity and sovereignty. He said that a resolve would also be taken to strengthen national unity and to work towards the restoration of those parts of Indian territory that remain under the illegal occupation of Pakistan and China.
He also urged people to adopt indigenous products, remain vigilant against anti-national forces, and pledge to connect the younger generation with Indian culture and Sanatan values.
Appealing to all the Sections of the society Parshotam Dadhichi requested everyone to actively participate in the programmes scheduled for 5th August in their respective areas, put up banners and hoardings in markets and public places, and spread the message of “Ektaamta Diwas” through social media.
