JAMMU, Jul 1: The Jammu & Kashmir unit of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) has launched the historic ‘Jammu Yoddha Abhiyan’ (Jammu Warriors Campaign) with the objective of honouring the region’s distinguished personalities, preserving the glorious Dogra heritage, and inspiring patriotism and a spirit of public service among the youth.
As part of the first phase of the campaign, a Shiv Sena delegation led by J&K President Manish Sahni met decorated Indian Army veteran and Dogra icon Major General Govardhan Singh Jamwal, AVSM (Retd.) and honoured him with the ‘Jammu Yoddha Smriti Chinh’ (Jammu Warrior Memorial Award).
On the occasion, Manish Sahni said, “The Jammu Yoddha Abhiyan is not merely a felicitation programme; it is a people’s movement dedicated to celebrating Dogra pride, our glorious martial tradition, and the inspiring personalities who have brought honour to Jammu and the nation. A society that respects its heroes lays a strong foundation for future generations. Honouring Major General Govardhan Singh Jamwal is not just recognising an individual but paying tribute to the values of sacrifice, courage, discipline, and patriotism that define the Dogra community and strengthen our nation.”
He urged the youth to draw inspiration from such eminent personalities and embrace the ideals of national service, discipline, leadership, and social responsibility so that every young person in Jammu can proudly say, “Yes, I too am a Jammu Warrior.”
Expressing his gratitude after receiving the honour, Major General Govardhan Singh Jamwal, AVSM (Retd.) appreciated Shiv Sena (UBT) for this unique initiative. He said that despite changing times, remaining connected to one’s cultural identity, Dogra traditions, and core values is the greatest source of strength. He also called upon the youth to always place national interest above all else and dedicate themselves to the service of society and the nation.
Concluding the programme, Manish Sahni said that the Jammu Yoddha Abhiyan is a continuous public campaign under which distinguished personalities from the fields of defence, education, sports, culture, social service, administration, and other walks of life will be honoured for their exceptional contributions. He added that the campaign aims to instil patriotism, discipline, leadership, service, and social responsibility among the youth, inspiring them to become committed “Jammu Warriors” devoted to the progress of society and the nation.
