JAMMU, Sep 12: The Jammu and Kashmir unit of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) organised a civic felicitation ceremony to honour senior journalists and prominent media personalities for their contribution to journalism and their efforts to highlight issues related to Jammu and Kashmir’s culture, Dogra heritage and public interest.
As part of the party’s ‘Jammu Yoddha Samman Abhiyan’, Shiv Sena (UBT) J&K President Manish Sahni felicitated State Times Editor-in-Chief Raj Dhuja, J.K. Media Chairman and Managing Director Subhash Choudhary, Pir Panjal News Line Editor-in-Chief Adarsh Pal Gupta, and senior Dogra journalists Vinod Gupta and Pawan Sharma. The honourees were presented with mementoes and the prestigious ‘Jammu Yoddha’ honour.
Addressing the gathering, Sahni said journalism is not only the backbone of democracy but also an important bridge between the people and the government. He said journalists who fearlessly highlight Jammu’s rich culture, historical heritage, Dogra identity and issues affecting the common people deserve recognition as the true warriors of Jammu.
Sahni said the ‘Jammu Yoddha’ campaign seeks to recognise individuals who are committed to protecting Jammu’s identity, dignity and legitimate rights through their respective fields of work. He emphasised that such recognition is intended to encourage people who continue to contribute to society despite challenges.
He announced that the campaign would, in the coming days, honour other distinguished personalities for their outstanding contributions in social service, trade, youth welfare, art and culture.
Congratulating the awardees, Sahni wished them continued success in their journey of independent, responsible and public-oriented journalism. He also expressed hope that the media fraternity would continue to raise issues concerning the people and preserve Jammu’s cultural and historical identity.
Sanjay Bhatt, General Secretary (Organisation), and Prince Pintu were also present on the occasion.
