Shiv Sena Hindustan flags irregularities in Amarnath Yatra Tatkal registration

JAMMU, Jul 6: Shiv Sena Hindustan Jammu & Kashmir President Pandit Rajesh Kesri, along with Mahant Mahamandaleshwar Rameshwar Das, on Monday expressed concern over alleged irregularities in the Tatkal registration process for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra and urged the administration to ensure complete transparency and fairness in the issuance of registration slips.

Addressing a press conference at the historic Shri Ram Temple, Purani Mandi, the leaders said that the Tatkal registration facility introduced at Baltal under the directions of the Lieutenant Governor was intended to facilitate genuine pilgrims undertaking the annual pilgrimage. However, they alleged that complaints had been received from several saints and devotees claiming that certain unscrupulous government employees were misusing the system by allegedly issuing registration slips in exchange for money.

They said the issue came to their notice after pilgrims and saints visiting the temple narrated their grievances. Following these complaints, a detailed discussion was held with Mahant Rameshwar Das, after which the matter was reviewed and a meeting was convened to deliberate on the concerns raised by devotees.

While appreciating the efforts of the Lieutenant Governor-led administration, the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board, police, security forces and civil administration for making elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Yatra, the leaders said the government had left no stone unturned in providing security, accommodation, medical facilities and other essential services to pilgrims from across the country.

They, however, observed that the alleged misconduct of a handful of “black sheep” within the system was tarnishing the image of the administration and the police force, whose personnel have been working round the clock to ensure the safe and successful conduct of the pilgrimage. They maintained that the actions of a few individuals should not overshadow the dedicated service rendered by thousands of honest officials and security personnel.

Mahant Rameshwar Das and Pandit Rajesh Kesri urged the government to order a thorough inquiry into the allegations and take stringent action against anyone found guilty of exploiting pilgrims. They also appealed to police personnel and government officials to interact with devotees in a courteous and compassionate manner, saying that respectful treatment of pilgrims was as important as ensuring their security.

Reiterating their commitment to safeguarding the interests of devotees and preserving the sanctity of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, the leaders appealed to all concerned agencies to work in coordination so that the annual pilgrimage remains peaceful, transparent and free from any malpractice. The press conference concluded with prayers for the successful completion of the holy pilgrimage.
