JAMMU, Aug 1: Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu & Kashmir unit chief Manish Sahni strongly condemned the killing of migrant Hindu labourers in Kulgam, describing the incident as a “heinous crime against humanity” and calling for a firm response to what he alleged was Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism.
In a statement issued from the party’s state headquarters, Sahni said the targeted killing had revived memories of the Pahalgam terror attack and raised fresh concerns over the security situation in the Kashmir Valley.
Alleging that Pakistan continues to pursue a policy of proxy warfare against India, Sahni claimed the neighbouring country was attempting to divert international attention from its internal political and economic challenges, as well as unrest in Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK), by encouraging cross-border terrorism.
He noted that the Kulgam incident was the second targeted killing reported in the Valley within nine days. Sahni also referred to continuing infiltration attempts along the Line of Control and the interception of Pakistani drones by Indian security forces, saying these developments reflected persistent security challenges.
Describing Pakistan as “a state that continues to nurture terrorism,” Sahni alleged that attacks on innocent civilians were aimed at creating fear and instability.
Questioning the Union Government’s response, Sahni recalled that following the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, it had been stated that any Pakistan-sponsored hostile act would be treated as an act of war. He urged the government to translate those assurances into decisive action.
“The time has come for India to deliver a firm and unequivocal response to cross-border terrorism so that those responsible understand that such attacks will carry serious consequences,” Sahni said.
He also urged the Centre to strengthen security measures to ensure the safety of civilians and migrant workers in Jammu & Kashmir while continuing decisive action against terrorism and infiltration.
