JAMMU, Jun 6: Shiv Mandir, Sector-7, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, will celebrate the auspicious occasion of Somvati Amavasya and Sankranti (Sangrand) on June 15 with great religious devotion and spiritual enthusiasm. The rare coincidence of Somvati Amavasya falling on a Monday along with Sankranti is considered highly sacred in Hindu tradition and is regarded as an ideal occasion for prayer, charity, and spiritual upliftment.

To mark the occasion, the temple management has organized a special religious programme featuring the collective recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa from 6:00 PM onwards. A large number of devotees from different parts of Jammu are expected to participate and offer prayers for peace, prosperity, good health, and harmony.

Special worship and prayers will be conducted in honour of Lord Shiva, Lord Hanuman, and Lord Shani Dev. Religious scholars and temple priests will also enlighten devotees about the spiritual significance of Somvati Amavasya and the importance of devotion, charity, and righteous living.

According to the temple committee, Somvati Amavasya holds immense religious significance as it combines the sanctity of Amavasya with Monday, a day dedicated to Lord Shiva. Devotees traditionally visit temples, perform charitable acts, and seek divine blessings for the welfare of their families and society. The occurrence of Sankranti on the same day further enhances the spiritual importance of the occasion.

To facilitate devotees, elaborate arrangements including seating facilities, drinking water, and distribution of Prasad have been made at the temple premises. Volunteers of the temple committee will assist devotees and ensure the smooth conduct of the programme.

The event is being organized under the leadership of temple committee members Shiv Kumar Jolly, Vijay Vaid, Rajni Kohli, Rani Ji, Dr. R. L. Handoo, Nana Ji Raina, Rajesh Gupta, Urmil Arora, Thakur Sameer Ji, Pandit Pankaj, and Pandit Mohinder. They have appealed to devotees and the general public to participate in the celebrations and seek divine blessings.

The committee members emphasized that such religious gatherings strengthen faith, promote social harmony, and foster a sense of community spirit. They expressed confidence that the programme would provide devotees with an opportunity for spiritual reflection and divine blessings on this sacred occasion.

The temple management has extended an open invitation to residents of Trikuta Nagar and devotees from across Jammu to join the celebrations and seek the blessings of Lord Shiva, Lord Hanuman, and Lord Shani Dev for a peaceful, prosperous, and fulfilling life.
