Sham Lal inaugurates Painting Exhibition at Kala Kendra????????????????????????????????????

JAMMU, Jul 11: Member of the Legislative Assembly  Sham Lal Sharma today inaugurated a five-day painting exhibition featuring the works of renowned artists Vinod Kumar Verma and Amardeep Singh Sahni at the Master Sansar Chand Gallery in presence of a number of artists , painters, intelecuals. The exhibition titled “ Expression of Soul” was organized by the Kala Kendra Jammu

Welcoming the distinguished guests, Dr. Javaid Rahi Secretary Kala Kendra said that the objective of organizing the exhibition is to promote and encourage local artists by providing them a platform to showcase their creative excellence. He observed that the paintings displayed by Vinod Kumar Verma and Amardeep Singh Sahni are unique in their artistic expression.

Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the exhibition, MLA Sham Lal Sharma appreciated the artistic excellence of both painters and remarked that their works portray the diverse shades of human life—at times vibrant and colourful, and at other times deeply spiritual, connecting viewers with the divine. He appealed to the people of Jammu to visit the exhibition and witness the remarkable collection on display. He also lauded the efforts of Kala Kendra in promoting art and culture, emphasizing that cultural institutions must be strengthened and supported for preserving the region’s rich artistic heritage.

Amardeep Singh Sahni-artist shared that exhibiting in a public gallery offers an entirely different experience from working in a studio, as it enables direct interaction between the artwork and the viewers.

In his address, Ashok Singh, President of the Delphic Council of Jammu & Kashmir, observed that both Vinod Kumar Verma and Amardeep Singh Sahni come from engineering backgrounds, and this is reflected in the structural balance, design aesthetics, use of colour and spatial composition evident in their paintings.

The exhibition will remain open for the public from 11th to 15th July 2026, daily from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
