AKHNOOR, Jul 28: The mysterious death of Sadhik (Shine) Sharma, a resident of Akhnoor in Jammu, has drawn political attention, with Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet Minister Satish Sharma urging the Punjab Government to order a high-level investigation.
In a letter addressed to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on July 28, 2026, the Minister sought the constitution of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to conduct a comprehensive, fair, and time-bound probe into the case.
According to the letter, Sadhik Sharma reportedly died under mysterious circumstances in Kharar, Punjab, and an FIR has already been registered at Police Station City Kharar. The bereaved family has expressed serious doubts over the circumstances surrounding the death and has disputed the claim that it was merely a road accident.
The Minister noted that the family has raised several concerns, including the alleged condition of the vehicle involved, which they believe is inconsistent with a fatal road accident. The letter also mentions allegations that the deceased had received threatening messages from one of the persons accompanying him prior to the incident.
“These allegations merit a thorough, scientific and impartial investigation,” the letter states.
Highlighting the family’s immense grief after losing their only son, Satish Sharma said that the investigation must inspire confidence not only among the bereaved family but also among the general public. He, therefore, requested the Punjab Chief Minister to constitute an SIT comprising experienced officers to investigate every aspect of the case in a transparent and impartial manner.
Expressing confidence in the Punjab Government, the minister stated that under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s leadership, justice would be delivered through a fair and transparent investigation.
