NAGROTA, Sep 20: Sainik School Nagrota organised a plantation drive under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative on 20 September 2026, reinforcing its commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable campus development.
The drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from cadets, teachers, administrative staff, NEXAS and its families, Oxygen Footprints, Rotary Club Jammu Stars, Green City Nursery and prominent citizens. More than 500 saplings of fruit-bearing, flowering and avenue species, including Sukhchain, Behra, Bottle Brush, Kachnar, Cassia, Amaltas, Guava and Amla, were planted across the school premises.
The initiative will contribute to campus greening, biodiversity and awareness about soil and water conservation and ecological sustainability. It also reflected the spirit of the School Song, which celebrates the school’s natural surroundings and its ethos of Gyan (Knowledge), Veerta (Courage) and Anushasan (Discipline).
Speaking on the occasion, Capt (IN) Shibu Devasia, Principal, Sainik School Nagrota, thanked all participating organisations, citizens, staff and cadets for their wholehearted support. He emphasised that the saplings planted in honour of mothers must be nurtured and protected, with cadets encouraged to take responsibility for their trees throughout their stay in the school.
The Principal also announced that the plantation drive would become an annual initiative, creating a lasting Green Legacy for the Alma Mater and nurturing environmentally responsible citizens.
