JAMMU, Oct 18: Sadguru Shri Madhu Paramhans Ji Maharaj, spiritual guide of the Sahib Bandgi tradition, delivered a discourse at Ranjri, Jammu, emphasising the importance of discernment in spiritual practice and the search for spiritual truth.
During the discourse, he observed that people often adopt religious beliefs and practices without examining their meaning or understanding the reasons behind them. He illustrated this through an example of a person who followed a particular deity simply because his parents had done so.
He drew a comparison between unquestioned religious practices and everyday decisions, explaining that people could be influenced by others without fully understanding what they were accepting.
The Sadguru also referred to different spiritual traditions and practices, including yoga, penance and various forms of devotion. He stressed that people should reflect carefully on their beliefs rather than follow others blindly.
According to the discourse, devotion in itself was not necessarily wrong, but spiritual seekers needed to understand the deeper purpose of their practices and their relationship with liberation from the cycle of birth and death.
He further spoke about the temporary nature of worldly possessions, relationships and material achievements. Using examples of loss, illness and death, he urged the congregation to reflect on life’s impermanence and the importance of spiritual awareness.
The discourse concluded with an emphasis on seeking guidance from a true spiritual master and giving serious thought to the ultimate well-being of the soul.
