Rising inflation, unemployment major concerns: Ajeet Bhagat

KISHTWAR, Sep 20: Senior Jammu and Kashmir National Conference leader and Spokesperson for the Chenab Valley Region, Ajeet Bhagat, on Sunday criticized the BJP-led Central Government over what he described as its failure to effectively address rising inflation and unemployment. He said that increasing prices and limited employment opportunities are creating serious difficulties for ordinary citizens, particularly educated youth searching for jobs.

Bhagat said that prices of essential commodities, including food items, cooking gas, edible oil, vegetables, medicines, electricity and other household necessities, have increased significantly over the years. He claimed that the rise in household expenses has affected the purchasing power of ordinary families and made it increasingly difficult for many households to manage their daily needs.

The National Conference leader said unemployment has emerged as a major concern, with large numbers of educated young people searching for suitable employment opportunities. He alleged that vacancies in government departments remain unfilled in several areas, while employment opportunities in the private sector have not expanded sufficiently to meet the requirements of the growing workforce. According to Bhagat, the situation has created frustration among young people and affected their aspirations for stable careers.

He said the situation is particularly concerning in Jammu and Kashmir, where unemployment among educated youth remains an important issue. Bhagat attributed the difficulties to factors including inadequate industrial investment, delays in recruitment and limited economic opportunities. He said that the combination of rising household expenses and unemployment has placed additional financial pressure on families.

Bhagat alleged that instead of giving adequate attention to issues such as inflation, unemployment, economic growth and declining purchasing power, the BJP leadership was diverting public attention towards what he described as non-issues. He said people expect concrete measures and answers on matters directly affecting their livelihoods and economic security.

The National Conference leader urged the Central Government to take immediate measures to address inflation, generate large-scale employment opportunities and expedite the recruitment process for vacant government posts. He also called for greater support for small businesses, strengthening of the agricultural sector and measures to provide relief to households facing financial difficulties.

Bhagat said that the country’s economic progress is closely linked with the availability of employment opportunities for its young population and the purchasing power of ordinary citizens. He urged the government to take timely and effective measures to address the economic concerns being raised by people and prevent further financial difficulties for families.

He maintained that creating employment opportunities, supporting local economic activity and addressing the rising cost of essential goods should remain important priorities for policymakers.
