Residents of Ward 10 in Basohli Municipality face hardships due to lack of drainage system

BASOHLI, Jul 18: Residents of Ward No. 10 of Basohli Municipality are facing severe difficulties due to the absence of a proper drainage system. Even light rainfall results in waterlogging, with drains and streets overflowing, disrupting daily movement and creating unhygienic conditions.

Local resident Neelam Mishra said that the people of Ward No. 10 have been struggling with this issue for several years. She questioned why the ward was left without drainage facilities when funds were reportedly allocated for drain construction in all municipal wards and similar works were carried out elsewhere.

Other residents, including Chander Prakash Mishra, Beena Badyal, Ravika Prabhakar, Monika, and Mamta Sharma, also expressed serious concern over the situation. They stated that even a small spell of rain causes drains to overflow, leading to water accumulation on roads and around residential houses. This not only affects daily life but also raises the risk of the spread of waterborne diseases.

The residents of Ward No. 10 have appealed to the Basohli Municipal authorities to take immediate steps to construct a proper drainage system in the area. They urged the administration to address the long-pending issue without further delay so that people can get relief from recurring waterlogging and sanitation problems during the rainy season.

The residents further requested the authorities to begin the drainage construction work at the earliest and provide a permanent solution to this longstanding civic problem.
