REASI, May 27: Under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan, District Police Reasi achieved another success against drug trafficking during naka checking operations.
During naka checking at Searli Naka, a suspicious person carrying a red-green patterned sling bag on his left shoulder was noticed coming on foot from Chamba side towards Searli. On seeing the police party, the person turned back and attempted to flee from the spot. Acting swiftly and tactfully, the naka team apprehended the suspect.
During checking/search of the sling bag, police recovered a green coloured polythene containing suspected contraband Cannabis (Ganja) packed in polypouches weighing approximately 160 grams. Cash amounting to ₹38,900 was also recovered from another section of the bag.
During questioning, the accused disclosed his identity as Shalinder Giri S/o Patal Giri R/o Balak Nath Mandir, Achalpur, Hoshiarpur, Punjab.
In this regard, FIR No. 164/2025 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra and further investigation is underway.
