JAMMU, May 31: Shiv Sena Hindustan organized an anti-drug awareness meeting in Nardani village of Ghrota Block under the leadership of its Jammu and Kashmir President, Pt. Rajesh Kesri. The meeting witnessed active participation from local residents, social activists, and community representatives who expressed deep concern over the growing menace of drug addiction among the youth.
Addressing the gathering, Pt. Rajesh Kesri highlighted the alarming rise in the consumption of heroin, commonly known as “Chitta,” which has become a serious threat to the younger generation across villages and towns. He said that drug abuse is not only destroying the lives of youth but is also posing a grave challenge to society and the future of Jammu and Kashmir.
Kesri emphasized that parents, educational institutions, coaching centres, and owners of paying guest (PG) accommodations and guest houses must play a proactive role in monitoring the activities of young students and creating awareness about the harmful effects of narcotics. He appealed to all sections of society to remain vigilant and work collectively to protect the younger generation from falling prey to drug addiction.
“The future of our nation and Jammu and Kashmir depends upon our youth. If we fail to save them from the clutches of drugs, we risk compromising the progress and prosperity of society. Every citizen has a responsibility to contribute towards this mission,” Kesri said.He also called upon the public to actively support the anti-drug campaign launched by Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha, stressing that the success of the ongoing 100-day anti-narcotics drive depends on public participation and cooperation with law enforcement agencies. He urged people to assist the police by providing information about drug smugglers and anti-national elements involved in narcotics trafficking, including those linked to cross-border narco-terrorism sponsored from Pakistan.
The participants appreciated the efforts of Shiv Sena Hindustan in spreading awareness against drug abuse and pledged their support in creating a drug-free society. They stressed the need for continuous awareness campaigns at the grassroots level to prevent young people from becoming victims of addiction.Among those present on the occasion were Jia Lal, Raj Kumar, Sanjeev Sharma, Meenu, Gaurav Kumar, Balbir Kumar, Balwant Fauji, Meena Devi, Jyoti Devi, Geeta Devi, Mathura Devi, and several prominent villagers. The attendees praised Shiv Sena Hindustan for taking up the important social cause and for mobilizing public opinion against the growing drug menace.
