JAMMU, Sep 12: Political Leader and Parliamentary Contested Candidate from Anantnag, Sanjay Dhar, has expressed serious concern over the repeated threat letters being received by PM Package Employees working in Kashmir and urged the Union Government to order a credible, time-bound investigation into the matter.
Dhar said that the continued threats to PM Package Employees are a matter of grave concern, particularly because these employees joined government service as an important component of the rehabilitation process for Kashmiri Displaced Hindus.
“If PM Package Employees, who are contributing to the rehabilitation process, are not able to feel safe while performing their duties in Kashmir, then a very serious question arises: how can the remaining Kashmiri Displaced Hindus be expected to feel secure about their future rehabilitation and return?” he said.
He urged the Union Home Minister to ensure that the threat letters are thoroughly investigated by the competent security and investigating agencies so that their source, authenticity and those responsible are identified and appropriate legal action is taken.
Dhar also demanded an immediate review and strengthening of security arrangements at all Transit Camps in Kashmir. He called for adequate security protection for PM Package Employees and their families residing in these camps.
He further said that, until a proper security assessment is completed and confidence is restored, PM Package Employees should, wherever necessary, be permitted to perform their duties from their respective Transit Camps or other designated secure locations.
“PM Package Employees are not merely government employees. They are also an important part of the rehabilitation initiative. Any threat to their lives and families directly affects the confidence of the entire Kashmiri Displaced Hindu community,” Dhar said.
He also urged the Government to address the broader security concerns of Kashmiri Displaced Hindus living in Jammu, Transit Camps and other parts of the country.
“The fear among PM Package Employees must end. Their safety and dignity must be protected. Their security is closely connected with the confidence of the entire displaced community in the rehabilitation process,” Dhar said.
Dhar appealed to the Union Government to take concrete, immediate and visible measures so that PM Package Employees can live and work without fear and with the dignity of ordinary citizens.
