KISHTWAR, Jul 10: National Conference senior leader and Chenab Valley spokesperson Ajeet Bhagat on Friday said that the Omar Abdullah-led government is committed to ensuring inclusive growth and equitable development for all sections of society, particularly the marginalised and underprivileged.
Addressing party workers, Bhagat said the National Conference has consistently championed the cause of socially and economically disadvantaged communities and remains committed to carrying forward its legacy of people-centric governance.
“The National Conference has always stood with the voiceless and the marginalised. Our founding manifesto was not merely a political document but a commitment to ensuring dignity, justice and equal opportunities for every citizen,” he said.
Highlighting the party’s governance record, Bhagat said successive National Conference governments had introduced landmark reforms and welfare initiatives aimed at improving the lives of people across Jammu and Kashmir. He said measures such as land reforms, social welfare programmes and inclusive development policies had significantly contributed to the upliftment of weaker sections of society.
Taking a swipe at previous BJP-backed governments, Bhagat alleged that their “lopsided and insensitive policies” disrupted the developmental momentum and adversely affected vulnerable sections of the population. He claimed that several pro-people initiatives suffered setbacks during that period.
Expressing confidence in the present administration, Bhagat said the Omar Abdullah-led government is working to restore a governance model based on inclusiveness, transparency and grassroots empowerment.
“Under the dynamic leadership of Omar Abdullah, every decision of the government is guided by the principle that no section of society should feel left out. The focus is on equitable development and ensuring that the benefits of governance reach every household,” he said.
Bhagat added that the National Conference remains committed to strengthening its legacy of compassion, secularism and public welfare. He said the government’s objective is to rebuild public trust by delivering fair, transparent and people-oriented governance while ensuring that development reaches every corner of Jammu and Kashmir.
