KATHUA, Oct 1: The Road Safety Club of Government Degree College for Women, Kathua, organized an awareness-oriented Nukkad Natak (street play) to sensitize students and the general public about the importance of road safety and responsible road behaviour. The students presented an engaging and thought-provoking street play highlighting various aspects of road safety.
Through impactful dialogues, slogans, acting and realistic situations, the students drew attention to the major causes of road accidents, including overspeeding, rash and negligent driving, use of mobile phones while driving, driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to wear helmets and seat belts, jumping traffic signals and careless road crossing.
The students particularly emphasized the importance of wearing helmets, using seat belts, obeying traffic signals, avoiding distractions while driving and respecting the rights and safety of pedestrians.
The programme was organized under the guidance of Principal of the college Dr Jaipal Singh, who appreciated the efforts of the students and the Road Safety Club in spreading awareness about this important social issue.
He stressed the importance of educating young people about traffic rules and encouraged students to act as responsible citizens and spread the message of road safety in society.
Dr. Poonam Sambyal, Convenor, Road Safety Club, coordinated the activity. She emphasized that awareness, discipline and responsible behaviour are essential for reducing road accidents and protecting lives.
The programme was also attended and supported by other faculty members of the college, who appreciated the students’ enthusiastic participation and their efforts to address a socially relevant issue. Their presence and encouragement contributed to the success of the awareness activity.
The Nukkad Natak received an encouraging response and effectively engaged the audience through its powerful presentation.
The students concluded the performance with road-safety slogans and a message urging everyone to follow traffic rules and remain vigilant on the roads. The activity successfully reinforced the message.
