JAMMU, Aug 17: National Secular Forum (NSF), organized a program in University Campus and on the Death anniversary of Madan Lal Dhingra who laid his life for the country. Amid patriotic slogans of ” Madan Lal Dhingra Amar Rahe,” “Inquilab Zindabad,” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” NSF activists paid rich tributes to the great revolutionary by garlanding his portrait and planting saplings in his memory, symbolizing their commitment to preserving both the nation’s heritage and environment.
Ankush Abrol Provincial Joint Secretary JKNC was the chief guest while Dr. Vikas Sharma Coordinator and Zonal Secretary JKNC, presided over the function and Vikshay Vashist State Working President NSF, was the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Ankush Abrol appreciated the initiative taken by the National Secular Forum to organize the programme in honour of Shaheed Madan Lal Dhingra. He said that the tree plantation drive was a meaningful tribute to the great revolutionary and urged the youth to draw inspiration from the ideals of patriotism, courage, and selfless service exemplified by Madan Lal Dhingra. He further added that the sacrifices of the freedom fighters should always be remembered, as their courage laid the foundation of an independent India.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Vikas Sharma threw light on the life history of Madan Lal Dhingra and appreciated the efforts of NSF.
He also said that we all should take oath not to sit silent and continue our endeavor to regain Jammu and Kashmir State. He further said that J&K suffered immensely due to misadventures of the Centre. Post abrogation of statehood people here were suffering due to rising unemployment, inflation and discrimination. Dr Sharma urged the youth to come together on a single platform to push for this demand. NC would leave no stone unturned to achieve statehood for J&K.
Speaking on the occasion, Vikshay Vashist threw light on the life of martyr Madan Lal Dhingra who was born in Punjab. He went to London in 1906 to study engineering. His father, Dr Ditta Mal, retired as the Government Civil Surgeon and had twenty-one houses in Katra Sher Singh and six bungalows on G.T. Road. He also said that Thirty-one years later Udham Singh followed the same path and was executed on July 31, 1940 under almost similar circumstances.
Irfan Ahmed, Chairman, NSF University Unit, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the importance of remembering the sacrifices of the nation’s freedom fighters. Abhishek Uppal, President, NSF Jammu District Unit, presented the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the distinguished guests and participants for making the programme successful.
