KISHTWAR, Nov 1: Senior Jammu and Kashmir National Conference leader and Chenab Valley Regional Spokesperson Ajeet Bhagat has dismissed reports of internal differences within the National Conference government, asserting that there is no discord or factionalism within the party.
In a press statement, Bhagat clarified that the recent meeting of National Conference MLAs was held in a cordial atmosphere and was intended to facilitate discussions and exchange of views rather than create factions or trigger any division within the party.
He said that the party leadership, including Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, believes that MLAs should have the opportunity to express their opinions, raise concerns and suggest necessary changes during such meetings.
Reacting to rumours circulating on social media regarding a possible split within the party, including claims that 18 to 27 MLAs could break away, Bhagat dismissed such reports as baseless and misleading. He maintained that there was no intention among party legislators to separate or form any independent faction.
Taking a swipe at the BJP, Bhagat remarked that the party might continue to dream of forming a government in Jammu and Kashmir over the next five years, but the National Conference government would complete its full term.
Describing the National Conference as a disciplined political organisation, he said its experienced legislators regularly engage in discussions on internal matters while respecting one another’s opinions and perspectives.
Bhagat reiterated that the MLA meeting was a normal democratic exercise within the party and should not be misinterpreted as a sign of internal conflict. He maintained that the party remained united under its leadership and that there was no question of any division or factional activity.
