JAMMU, Jun 1: Employees working under the National Health Mission have expressed concern over delays in salary disbursement, stating that a majority of NHM staff across Jammu and Kashmir have not received their salaries despite the approaching Eid-ul-Adha festival.
According to employees, nearly 85 percent of NHM workers remain unpaid, while salaries in only a few districts have reportedly been released. In several districts, nearly two months’ salaries are still pending, causing financial hardship for thousands of healthcare workers and their families.
The employees alleged that although funds were released around two weeks ago, issues related to the SPARSH/SNA-SPARSH system and delays at the Treasury level have hindered the processing of salaries in most districts. They expressed disappointment that despite directions to ensure salary disbursement before Eid, a large number of employees were left without payments.
Speaking on the issue, Raza Ganai said that healthcare and paramedical staff continue to serve the public round the clock while working on modest salaries. He noted that many employees are struggling to meet expenses related to bank loans, EMIs, school fees and household needs due to repeated delays in salary payments.
The employees have appealed to the Director General Treasury, Jammu and Kashmir, concerned Treasury officials and Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) to resolve the technical issues at the earliest and streamline the salary disbursement process to prevent similar delays in the future.
They emphasized that NHM personnel have consistently played a vital role in delivering healthcare services across the Union Territory and that timely payment of salaries is essential for maintaining staff morale and ensuring uninterrupted public health services.
The employees also urged the Jammu and Kashmir Government to intervene on humanitarian grounds and facilitate the immediate release of pending salaries so that healthcare workers can support their families with dignity and continue serving the public without financial stress.
