KATHUA, Aug 12: Under the aegis of TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, an initiative of the Government of India to eliminate Tuberculosis from the country, the NCC Units of Government Degree College, Kathua organized a series of awareness activities in the college campus today.
The program was organized under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Manohar Lal, Principal of the College and under the supervision of ANO Lt. (Dr.) Daya Ram and CTO, Dr. Pinkey.
In this drive, NCC Cadets actively carried out three major activities: TB Mukt Bharat Pledge; Slogan Raising; and Awareness Campaign.
For TB Mukt Bharat Pledge, all NCC cadets took a pledge to contribute towards making India TB-free, to spread awareness about its symptoms, prevention and treatment, and to end the stigma associated with TB.
Under Slogan Raising, the cadets raised powerful slogans like “TB Harega, Desh Jeetega”, “Aao Milkar TB Ko Harayen”, “TB Mukt Bharat, Swasth Bharat” to sensitize the students and create a vibrant atmosphere in the campus.
For Awareness Campaign, the cadets conducted an awareness campaign for the other students of the college. They informed them about the causes, symptoms (persistent cough for more than 2 weeks, fever, weight loss), free diagnosis and treatment available under Nikshay Poshan Yojana at Government hospitals.
Speaking on the occasion, the Principal appreciated the efforts of the NCC cadets and said that such campaigns play a vital role in achieving the Prime Minister’s vision of a TB-free India. She urged students to become ambassadors of this mission in their communities.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by the ANOs. A large number of students and faculty members were present on the occasion.
