NC Govt squandering time on internal discord while public issues suffer: Adv Devraj

RS PURA, Jun 4: Senior BJP leader and advocate Devraj Sharma has strongly criticized the National Conference (NC) government, alleging that it is prioritizing the resolution of internal political differences over addressing the pressing concerns of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Sharma said the reported seven-hour-long meeting of the ruling party to settle internal disagreements has exposed the government’s misplaced priorities at a time when citizens are struggling with a host of unresolved issues.

In a statement issued here, Sharma remarked that while the ruling leadership remains occupied with managing its internal affairs, ordinary citizens continue to face hardships in securing basic services and administrative support.

He alleged that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and several ministers, who are handling multiple important portfolios, have failed to devote adequate time and attention to the day-to-day problems confronting the public.

According to Sharma, people are being forced to make repeated visits to government offices, yet their grievances remain pending due to what he termed as administrative indifference.

The BJP leader asserted that several sectors requiring immediate intervention, including drinking water supply, electricity, road infrastructure, healthcare services, revenue administration, and public grievance redressal, are suffering because governance has taken a back seat.

He claimed that government departments are functioning without proper monitoring and accountability, resulting in delays in decision-making and inconvenience to the public.

“The people of Jammu and Kashmir expect responsive governance and timely solutions to their problems. Unfortunately, the government appears more concerned about settling internal drifts than ensuring efficient administration,” Sharma said.

Calling for a renewed focus on public welfare, Sharma urged the NC government to rise above political distractions and concentrate on fulfilling its responsibilities towards the people.

He emphasized the need for regular public outreach programmes, grievance redressal camps, and review meetings to ensure that developmental works and essential services are not adversely affected.

Stressing that governance must remain the foremost priority, Sharma said the administration should dedicate its energy to resolving the concerns of citizens rather than spending valuable time on internal political exercises. He added that only a people-centric approach can restore public confidence and ensure the effective functioning of government institutions across Jammu and Kashmir.
