DODA, Aug 21: National Senior Citizens Day was celebrated today at the Tehsil Social Welfare Office, Doda, under the guidance of the District Social Welfare Officer, Doda, with the participation of around 100 senior citizens.
The programme was organised to honour the dignity, wisdom, valuable contributions and life experiences of senior citizens and to promote their well-being and active participation in society.
As part of the programme, wheelchairs, hearing aids and walking sticks were distributed among deserving senior citizens to facilitate their mobility, independence and day-to-day well-being.
The event also featured recreational activities, including a game of carrom, in which senior citizens participated enthusiastically. The activity provided an opportunity for the participants to interact and enjoy a pleasant and engaging atmosphere.
Legal services and awareness were also provided by the District Legal Services Authority, with senior citizens being guided about their legal rights and the assistance available to them.
Refreshments were also served to the participating senior citizens.
The programme concluded with a reaffirmation of the commitment towards the dignity, inclusion, independence and welfare of senior citizens, recognising their invaluable contribution to families and society.
