National-Level Training of Trainers on Youth-Led Climate Action for Northern Region begins in Nagrota

JAMMU Aug 12: The Bharat Scouts and Guides, National Headquarters is organising a National Level Training of Trainers (ToT) for the Northern Region under the Youth-Led Action on Climate Change (YLACC) initiative at Youth Hostel, Nagrota, Jammu.

The workshop was inaugurated by Nasreen Khan (Dy National Commissioner cum State Secretary & Administrative officer) along with Prof. Dr. Renu Nanda State Commissioner (Ranger), K L Sharma (Accounts Officer, J&K Bharat Scouts and Guides).

The workshop is being conducted by Haroon Malik along with Jayshree (Assistant  Project Leader YLACC NHQs and other staff members under the overall supervision of Anuradha Gupta (State Chief Commissioner)/Director General Youth Service and Sports J&K.

The training brings together 80 participants from Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Uttarakhand,  Northern Railway, providing a platform for participants to share knowledge, experiences, and innovative approaches towards climate action.

The primary objective of the training is to build the capacity of youth leaders and trainers to understand the challenges posed by climate change and translate awareness into real and meaningful action at the local and community levels.

The training focuses on climate change awareness, environmental protection, sustainable practices, community participation, youth leadership, and real action for climate change. Through interactive sessions, discussions, group activities, and practical learning, participants are being encouraged to identify local climate-related challenges and develop actionable solutions.

The YLACC initiative aims to empower young people to become active contributors to climate solutions and inspire them to take leadership in creating a more sustainable and climate-resilient future. The trained participants will further take the learning to their respective regions and work towards engaging more young people and communities in meaningful climate action.

The National Level Training of Trainers is an important step towards strengthening a network of trained climate action facilitators and youth leaders across the Northern Region, transforming climate awareness into collective and sustainable action.
