KISHTWAR, Aug 4: Senior Congress Leader & Former President, District Congress Committee (DCC) Kishtwar, Adv. Mohd. Asif Naqeeb has strongly condemned the arbitrary and unjust dismissal of Waqf employees, terming it a grave assault on their livelihood, dignity, and constitutional rights. Expressing complete solidarity with the affected employees, he warned that such actions reflect a disturbing pattern of administrative arbitrariness and political interference.
Naqeeb alleged that the present Kishtwar Waqf administration is functioning under deep and undue political influence, with key decisions being dictated from outside the institution, bypassing merit, due process, and fairness. He further alleged that the BJP is attempting to gradually bring Waqf institutions under its political influence by promoting an agenda aligned with RSS ideology, which he described as “totally unacceptable and deeply harmful to the religious, cultural, and moral values associated with Waqf institutions.”
He said that such interference not only undermines the sanctity of Waqf properties and institutions but also weakens the constitutional principles of secularism and institutional autonomy. “Waqf institutions are meant to serve the community with integrity and independence, not to become instruments of political or ideological agendas,” he said.
Questioning the legality and fairness of the dismissal process, Naqeeb said that had due procedure and transparency been followed, innocent employees would not have been pushed into unemployment and distress. He also expressed serious concern over the non-payment of pending salaries, calling it “an inhuman and unjust denial of rightful earnings for services already rendered.”
Naqeeb further alleged that the termination of these employees is not an administrative achievement but an attempt to shield institutional failures. He claimed that these employees were previously used for political and electoral gains and are now being abandoned and treated as expendable after serving that purpose.
He demanded the immediate release of all pending salaries and dues, along with a transparent review of the dismissal process, warning that continued injustice would deepen public resentment and erode trust in public institutions.
Reiterating his commitment, Adv. Naqeeb assured the affected employees of his full legal, moral, and public support. He urged the competent authorities, including the concerned leadership in Delhi, to take immediate cognizance of the matter and intervene to safeguard employee rights and the institutional independence of Waqf bodies.
Naqeeb also called for a comprehensive financial audit of the Waqf Board in Kishtwar to examine the alleged misuse of funds and assets and to ensure transparency, accountability, and proper management of Waqf resources.
He concluded by stating that the struggle is not merely about protecting jobs but about safeguarding the integrity, autonomy, and sanctity of Waqf institutions from political interference and ideological capture.
