Naam connects soul with supreme reality: Sadguru Madhuparamhans Ji

RANJRI, Sep 20: While addressing a congregation at Ranjri, Sadguru Shri Madhuparamhans Ji Maharaj of Sahib Bandgi delivered a spiritual discourse on the significance of Naam (the Divine Name), explaining that spiritual realization and liberation are achieved through connection with the Supreme Divine.

Sadguru Ji said that according to the teachings of saints, the glory of Naam has been emphasized throughout the ages. He said that the soul, without the protection and guidance of Naam, remains caught in the cycle of worldly existence and suffering. He referred to the teachings of saints and the Ramayana, where the importance of the Divine Name is also highlighted.

Explaining the significance of meeting a Sadguru, he said that Naam is not merely a word but represents a spiritual connection with the Supreme Reality. According to him, only a rare few are able to truly understand its deeper meaning, and this understanding becomes possible through the guidance of a Sadguru.

Using the example of birds, Sadguru Ji explained that birds possess the ability to fly through their wings. Similarly, the soul has the inherent potential to move towards the Supreme Being, but requires the spiritual strength and guidance provided through the True Master’s Naam. He also spoke about the concept of the subtle body through which, according to spiritual traditions, the soul can experience realities beyond the physical world.

Sadguru Ji emphasized that every individual is ultimately aware of his or her own actions. People may conceal certain deeds from others, but they remain conscious of what they have done, where they have done it and why. He explained this awareness as an inner record of one’s actions and conscience.

Describing Naam as a living spiritual force, he said that human beings often experience an inner warning before committing an improper act. After receiving Naam, he explained, this inner awareness becomes stronger and guides an individual whenever he or she begins moving in a wrong direction.

He described Naam as an “eye of wisdom”, saying that it helps an individual distinguish between right and wrong. According to Sadguru Ji, spiritual initiation brings greater awareness of one’s actions and responsibilities and helps purify one’s thoughts and intentions.

He further explained that after receiving Naam, a person develops an inner sense of direction, which continuously reminds them of the right path. He compared this spiritual guidance to a navigator that helps a person reach the desired destination.

Sharing an example from his visit to America around a decade ago, Sadguru Ji recalled that a taxi driver could reach a destination simply by entering the house number into a navigation system, without repeatedly asking people for directions. In a similar way, he explained, the Guru establishes a connection between the individual and the Supreme Reality.

Drawing a comparison with modern navigation technology, he said that just as a navigator connects a person with a destination, Naam establishes an inner connection with the Supreme Power and provides spiritual direction.

Through his discourse, Sadguru Shri Madhuparamhans Ji Maharaj urged devotees to understand the deeper significance of Naam, follow the guidance of the Guru and cultivate greater awareness of their thoughts, actions and spiritual responsibilities.
