BANIHAL, Aug 6 (Agencies): A labourer was killed and three others were injured after they came in contact with an 11 KV transmission line while erecting electric poles in the Sarbagni area of Ramsoo tehsil in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district on Thursday, police said.
According to police, all four labourers were engaged in the erection of electric poles when they accidentally came in contact with the live 11 KV transmission line, resulting in a severe electric shock.
The injured were immediately shifted to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Ramsoo, where they were provided first aid before being referred to the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Banihal for advanced treatment.
One of the injured, Yasir Ahmed, son of Farooq Ahmed, succumbed to his injuries at SDH Banihal despite the efforts of doctors.
The other injured have been identified as Ishtiyaq Ahmed, son of Kursheed Ahmed; Pervaiz Ahmed, son of Mohd Afzal Wani; and Mohd Yousuf, son of Mohd Hanief Wani, who is reported to be seriously injured.
Ramsoo Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated further investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the accident.
